Five Day Stitching Retreat

Monday 23rd March to Friday 27th March 2026.  

Come and join us for  a wonderfully relaxing and inspiring stitching retreat in the beautiful and historic city of Winchester in the Heart of Hampshire, the Jane Austen County of England.

We will be stitching our exclusive designs for four days at Winchester Cathedral,  using  hand stitching techniques including applique, embroidery, English paper piecing, quilting and counted cross stitch. We will be joined by Nicki Franklin of The Stitchery for a  workshop, and a talk by the talented designer Clare Kingslake.

This will be followed by a day visiting the historic  Jane Austen House, Chawton House and Whitchurch Silk Mill, where you can see the Jane Austen Coverlet, Cassandra Austen Counted Cross Stitch Sampler, and the Jane Austen and Bridgerton silk ribbons weaved at one of the only remaining working silk mills in the world.

 - Exclusive venue within the grounds of and overlooking the majestic medieval Winchester Cathedral

- Exclusive projects and kits with full tuition from the designers @willowandharestitching @thehumblebumblestitcher and @nickifranklin_needlework over four days and one evening

- Projects include quality hand dyed and vintage fabric and threads, and techniques include wool and cotton hand appliqué, embroidery, English paper piecing and counted cross stitch. Suitable for all levels including beginners as full tuition will be provided

- Guided tour of Winchester Cathedral

- One day of guided tours around the historical and acclaimed Jane Austen House, Chawton House with lunch and Whitchurch Silk Mill

Ten Day Stitching Retreat

Next September we will gather in the heart of Scotland for a truly special retreat celebrating 25 years of Blackberry Primitives. Our journey begins at the breath-taking Springkell Castle, followed by  touring the historic Stirling Highlands, stitching, exploring, and making unforgettable memories.

We start the retreat with five nights at Springkell Castle with full use of the estate and grounds, a welcoming Sunday midday brunch and meet‑and‑greet. Classes begin Monday morning for four days.

Following this a private coach will pick us up for four unforgettable days as we explore castles, historic churches, quaint fishing villages, and favourite filming locations.  Some of our scheduled stops include Midhope Castle, Blackness Castle, and Falkland Village.
During this time we will stay for six nights in historic Stirling, and end the retreat with another two days of classes.

Included in the retreat:

- Transportation to Springkell from one of the following (pickup times announced later): Edinburgh Airport (2 hrs), Glasgow Airport (1 hr 30 min), Manchester Airport (2 hrs 30 min), Carlisle Railway Station (30 min), Lockerbie Railway Station (20 min)
- Coach transportation for 4 days of touring + return to Edinburgh Airport on Thursday 17th
- 5 nights lodging at Springkell Castle
- Entrance fees for all touring locations
- Six full days of classes with Maggie, Stacy, and Becky
